Great explanation! I heard about this a few weeks ago, and I was really nervous about it. Seeing this video, I now know it's not something to be scared of, but rather, something to be wondering about. Like you said, what IS the point in passing this? It makes no sense. Argh.

@lifeofageek I do believe it and I was being sarcastic. Freedom of speech is gone my friend, but there is a way to get it back. see my original comment, and peace out.
So does that mean that the laws in here will only be for a year? Meaning their ability to detain ANYONE seen as a terrorist will only last a year?

@visceralguy technically no. The NDAA isn't re-written every year entirely. things are modified and changed on a need based scenario... but it does mean that if things get out of control, they can modify this at the end of the year.

@lifeofageek He should.
I must say, though, that he should never have signed it. It doesn't really matter if he signed it or not though cause it's quite easily, unconstitutional law. The two clearly clash and the Constitution is beyond his signature.

@visceralguy well there are different ways to interpret these things... unfortunately without his signature however, ALL military operations woulda stopped until the bill is passed... that's the thing that pressured him into signing the bill...
