I really appreciate journalists who are taking a stand on something that's become an exceedingly obvious political gimmick, and an amazingly serious and ill-advised one at that. It takes guts to say things this frankly when people are so keen to label anything even resembling criticism of Republicans' actions as a part of the "let-wing bias in media." Keep up the good work.

McCain had a legitimate chance to win the election and blew it by choosing a woman who has is an embaressment to any educated and well-spoken lady. She reminds me of the VP candidate Ross Perot chose who SNL parodied also, "the war hero." I do not support McCain by any means but definitely feel for the Republican party which has been demolished by Bush and accidentally by McCain's advisors. Bet he never thought his "co-pilot" could get him shot down in flames again.

I still have a creeping suspicion that it will be a very close election, even if Mccain/Palin are proving to be weak - Too many evangelicals and soccer moms. So much for the intellectual value of the American public vote. Guess we'll wait and see.

Palin put the plane on ebay, but it DID NOT sell. The speaker of the house sold it (6 months later) to an Alaskan businessman who was a contributer to the speaker's campaign.Palin didn't stop the bridge to nowhere earmark, Congress (inc. McCain) told Palin, "no we're not giving you this money for this bridge." But Alaska got the $227 million anyway & she spent $27 million of it on the road to Nowhere -the Gravina Highway-So she approved a road whose sole purpose was to lead a non-existent bridge
