A deep story and incredible atmosphere with tons of horror influences make Dead Space one of those titles that is a great starting point for a franchise.
Graphics 9.0=
Visually striking, everything from the holograms to the Necromorphs is incredible. Pixilation during depressurization and mild slowdown crimp its style.
Sound 9.5=
Voice acting is delivered beautifully, but it's the sound design that will have you jumping out of your seat and sending shivers down your spine.
Gameplay 8.5=
A strong mix of action and exploration is only hampered by repetitive, though appropriate, backtracking and odd navigation issues.
Lasting appeal 8.5=
You'll have to play through the game multiple times to improve your gear and understand the full story. However, not being able to change your difficulty after you beat the game is a bad decision. Plus DLC Alternate costumes already unlock able

would you recomend dead space to anyone that has not played a horror game before?

Depends if your looking for a pure horror game if not go for Resident Evil 4 and 5, they're action with horror elements. If your looking for more psychological game go for Silent Hill Homecoming(you have to survive with no weapon, it's still fun but it's only for wii and ps2) or Bioshock 1 or 2 the last two have great twist in the story and if you play 1 and pick up 2 don't go expecting a similar twist

this game is a mix of friday the 13th level gore, Aliens vs Preadator type freak you out creatures and a sixth sense meets shining type psychological freak outs

I pretty much loved this game from top to bottom. The gameplay was amazing and surprisingly addictive, the graphics were beautiful, and the scare factor was perfect (not to scary but still definitely enough to make me jump out of my seat throughout). My only problem was the story, which was at least intersting, but it's execution without cutscenes and a mute main character left a lot to be desired. Still it really was an excellent game, one of the best I've ever played.

Fantastic game, kinda resident evil mixed with aliens film. Looks stunning, only minus is the story...bit weak but not terrible. Love stomping on the dead bodies. Allmost had a heart attack in parts but overall not bad at atmosphere and scary bits. Highly recomend it.

He didn't use it much and went far off the path that's why because when you go to an incorrect room or hall way the light will turn you around but if your using it at every fork in the road it won't really do that

The guy who reviewed this lame. The navigation light is superb, never had any problems with it. Although I do agree with the backtracking part, but that's a scary thing. You would think, hmm, didn't I just clear this room, it's suppose to be safe. BUt of course, this game is special in that everywhere you no matter what, those Necro fuckers will get you.

Copy protection is always crackable there's already a way to get the PS3 and 360 to play games off the hard drive though most people keep what the program is and where they got it a secret but SecuROM is more of a spyware that tracks wtf you do on your PC not just gaming but internet and all so I have no real problem with copy protection until it becomes something like secuROM where I must download spyware in order to get it working. and Germany is the country your profile says.
