is it necessary to buy the waterproof case to use the contour while skiing?

@TheD3m1G0D - I do not have the waterproof case, the camera is pretty well built so it should be able to take a bit of rain or really wet snow - no problem if its cold as the snow will be dry anyway. If its snowing then not too much point in using a camera really as the visibility and lighting conditions will not be the best.

@djgravitate - It is a little dark here - it was the old version of the firmware and also I set the camera up for very bright conditions. (the previous day was sunny and i didnt change it) the later firmware is better in varied conditions. It is indeed a touch choice, i chose the contour as its smaller and so looks a little better attached to the helmet. I can post a video when it was sunny to show you how the camera was setup and intended to be used if you would like? Let me know.

The contour has a dark picture in a lot of the video's I've watched, not as impressed as with the GoPro videos.... which one to buy, tough choice!!!
