I've enjoyed watching a lot of aircraft and now I can add a MiG-21R to the list. In 1986, the folks of Aviation Classics started importing and restoring MiG-15s, -17s, and -21s.

This aircraft was originally built in 1971, was imported from Czechoslovakia, and is now privately owned.

For video of this aircraft including some aerobatics, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTMfLatsQTo

I don't have too much video of the plane actually flying as the owner departed the area to enjoy flying aerobatics. It was impressive to see the teamwork between the pilot and ground crew; many thanks to both for sharing the experience with us!

See this gentlemen fly his MiG-17 years earlier in:

  • How were you able to get theses Migs?

  • @mdharfman A mixture of hanging around an airport, educated guess, and owner's invitation after seeing how well my original came out (re: MiG-21 Workout vs. MiG-21 Flight Prep And... ).

  • I can only say that this is one of the best if not theee best Mig 21 video I have seen on the web, great videography, great day with A nice cloud coverage to give some volume to the picture, awsome sounds, nice follow-up on the ground crew, good interlude for the cockpit close-ups,and I also enjoyed to see briefly the Fouga Magister ...Thank you for this valuable video of one of my favorite alltime jets. Ironic that the word "experimental" has to be placarded on this well proven aircraft...

  • Many thanks for your comments! The owner of the aircraft really enjoyed it too and we have since captured about three minutes of aerobatics that I added to a modified version of this video; search YouTube for MiG Workout. Yep..., the beautiful clouds really framed it well.

I'll upload video of the Fouga when I see it take to the air. If interested, search YouTube for SAAB Draken Reno as well.

You just gotta' love beautiful aircraft.

  • Как я ему завидую...

  • @chaosad09 The Sukhoi has a variable-geometry wings (swing wings). There are other differences like powerplant, etc, but this is the biggest.

  • @Ultranationalist941 Monopoly money?

  • That's how I feel when I'm in the Cessna 152! LOL jk...

    I'd never be this cool!

Fantastic video, the Fishbed is a classy jet and is a firm favourite of mine (including the MiG15, MiG 17, MiG 23/27, Hawker Hunter & the Tomcat; today's warplanes don't even look half this cool!)

  • @chaosad09 Yes! The only thing common is simmilar looks.

  • @ZVERCO666 guess I will have to google them, they seem to look very similar to to eachother. I asume that its kind of like the mig 29 and the su 27?

  • @chaosad09 Oh, so many diferences.

  • @kyffaa Yes the red white and blue circle is the sign of Czech Air Force , it looks like the new owner of this Mig left original marking but painted him with grey color , in original when this Mig was in service of the Czech Republic he has standart silver color.
