Hi everyone I receive a ton of emails regarding what I call combined families. Parents, step parents, children and exes...I wanted to do a blog and give some tips and making these relationships work.

  • Very important subject, and U have done a good job...Ur eyes are so beautiful with the color/shades of eyeshadow you are wearing...TRACK

  • Hi Dear, I just ran into your channel and you are so inspiring. Thanks for your thought and insights. can you please tell me what kind of hair/wig/weave you are wearing. Thanks a mil

  • I am a step mom and I totally agree with everything you said! My husband and I are in constant dialogue about his son. But our maturity and love for eachother is what keeps us sane... because kids are CRAZY anyway!

  • @aurianaserena I am so sorry to read that. I had an abusive step mother as well, and have had to really work at the healing and forgiveness. Children are so defenseless.

  • @frustratedoperator My stepmother tried to push my sister, who was 7 at the time, into commiting suicide by beating her, hacking her hair, and repeatedly humiliating her in front of friends and telling her that her real mother was dead.

  • step parents are the most common murderers and abusers of kids.

"the murderer next door" by David Buss, and evoloutionary psychologist.

  • ur so cute! :)

  • I respect you so much Shanda, you are completely right with all of it. I also think it's important that kids are given time to adjust to the new parent and that one doesn't try too hard to get the kids to like them right away. Some kids take time to adjust to changes and I think that it is ok for that to be that way...and you gotta respect them. You can't expect a kid to call a new mother mommy right away sometimes.

  • My goodness. I just found this site and it is right on time. I'm engaged to a WONDERFUL man with children and it is coming time for he and I to have the combined family talk. Thank you Thank you!
