That's kind of how my 95 ran, with a bad IDM. Not enough power to get out of it's own way. Replaced it with a 110V IDM from a scrap yard and she was good to go.

My 2001 used to do this, it was because the oil was low. And to help things out i used that Marvel Mystery oil in my oil change and in my few for a few months and it all went away

I hate crappy techs, suggest something expensive so they'll go away. That or make his week. He should be fired and the dealer sued for trying to rob the owner.of this truck.

I have a 2002 7.3 that has been very reliable til last week. At 180K my test engine light came on andthe truck shudders at highway speed (idle is not quite right either). I replaced fuel filter and the problem went away for a day but now it is back. Even though the check engine light is on no code is present. Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Jay

@gofarly Maybe a rash of bad fuel. You need to check fuel flow. If there is insufficent fuel reaching the injectors then you will have this problem and it will eventually kill the injectors. In the Master Mechanics Series on the website I have a section called fuel system restoration. More than likely your truck needs this procedure performed. We never had any fuel related problems until ULSD was introduced and I bet we cleaned several hundred fuel systems since.

looks like you should pop a new mirror on that truck before you send it off

I did actually put one off a wreck I had and didnt say any thing. It took a week before he realized it, but he knew "something was different the whole time." I bet his wife was the one who noticed it.
