  • It's so true that you can make pretty kick ass looking film's using stop motion animation, and I think alot of his model's look very good, and realistic even for today,he's modest to say that they don't that much, when alot of them really do,like the beast from 20,000 fathoms, the Hydra from Jason, and the argonaut's,and the pegasus ext.

  • @thebrotherhoodisdumb I wouldn't say they are totally different they both serve the same purpose, and people like Ray harryhausen, and Phil tippet blur the lines between stop motion, and CGI,it's like comparing Coraline, that's stop motion to Kung fu panda,or Dragon slayer to Reign of fire,or the the black Clash of the titan's pegasus to the white, there's not much of a difference.

  • This guy is like 86 here or something! What an iconic figure of a man!

  • i totally agree. its still a young process.

  • Computers can limit creativity but that doesn't mean they're going to destroy art. I for one hate flash and all that shit and only animate using stop motion. If I was ever to make a low budget fantasy film I would definitely use sm, although for realism cgi. Cinema is young, we have centuries, possibly aeons of film ahead of us. People will demand change, maybe they'll want to see sm again, even now it's becoming more popular on tv and stuff. And alot of it is amazingly good!

  • no not with the advent of computers, no one will be quite as good. cgi and stop motion are two totally different mediums

  • Don't be such an idiot, he was a genis, but there will be another as good as him, possibly better. It's inevitable.

  • he is one of the greatest artists in special effects. We will never have anyone like him again.

  • A living treasure, who we all enjoyed. We'll never see the likes of him again.

  • Ray Harryhausen shows he's not only a cinema visionary but also a class act as well.
