This video was taken during the Opening Ceremony on July 18th, 2010 in Lincoln Nebraska for the USA Special Olympics National Games. Special Olympics was started by Eunice Shriver in the 1960s and has been an amazing organization and movement to help special people attain the best they can through sports. These words recorded by Eunice were played on the big screens and then you will see the torch being carried in by special athletes, eventually lighting the large torch in the arena. near the end of the video for some reason I turned my camera sideways so I apologize for this - but you can still watch and see the amazing event and it is still moving and inspiring. enjoy. My daugher participated in this amazing event representing the State of NJ in Bocce, and took home the bronze medal for Bocce Team and Bocce Pairs. Michael Sarver from American Idol sings the Torch of Hope song as the torch is brought in and finally lit.
