A very good idea.
You should use a circularly polarized helix antenna, because a cantenna or a yagi will miss about 40% of all signals. Most people put their WIFI fingers vertically, but reflections cause to shift the polarization angle up to 90 degrees. With circular polarization you get them all, especially important for moving targets like drones.
