I would much rather see the marchers calmly chatting with police and soldiers, in an effort to help convince them of the righteousness of the cause, rather than directing anger at them, because the cops are supposedly only there to keep peace anyway.
To affect any beneficial change at all, our police and soldiers need to be on OUR side. Remember - They are people too. They have simply been misinformed as to whom they should really be protecting.
DO NOT LET ANYONE PROVOKE YOU TO VIOLENCE

i was there. i was surrounded by police for no reason, given no explanation as to why i was being detained, and forced to sit as my basic right to peacefully assemble was trampled all over. i covered my face when the riot police put on their gas masks. no one wants to be maced.

Come on. They figured out how to handle protest during the Chicago DNC. Ask Abbie Hoffman if it changed anything?
We need a more aggressive approach.
