  • Those vocals are fucking beautiful.

  • Yeah! Love it but my guitar is out of metronome (I was 17)... sorry and thanx a lot

  • I stumbled into this band and I'm not used to these kind of vocals but I really like it =)

Wish I had the lyrics for their songs though.

  • Doom metal never sounded this good....enchanting,melancholic, what more could I ask for.

  • this band is amazing and incredible, revolutionized the metal in the early nineties with bands like Cultus sanguine me great memories ... etc ala tare memory is amazing song, thanks for giving this great Italian cult!

  • i was lucky to run into their recording about 10 years ago.(as i found out later the only one album was released by formation named Ras Algethi, later they became Canaan). And that cassette was lost but the Songs were alive in my heart sinse then till now. No comparisons exist! Unique distinguished work! Flawless!

  • I completely agree!

Never before in the history of Metal, had a band made such beautiful music.

Grunts and gregorian chants... who would even think of mixing them toghether?

Though obviously their master piece was When Fire is Father... so far I haven't listened to anything more beautiful in the Doom Metal scene.

  • was refering to bells of doom =] and, thanks, ill check it out :D

  • Perhaps you are referring to Majesty? Although he was from Finland. I haven't kept track of the more underground Doom acts out there, but personally I haven't heard much that sounds quite similar to Ras Algethi. (Well, Caanan maybe) But there's lots of good Doom. I would recommend Warning, While Heaven Wept, Cathedral, Candlemass, Nemesis, Anathema, Penance, Skepticism, Solitude Aeturnus, Khanate, Esoteric, and Burning Witch. Happy hunting!

  • indeed, by far amongst the best I've ever heard... Been listening to black metal for a long time for this atmospheric feeling, but this band just hits the nail. Its soothing, and partly depressing, at least for me ;p This and some Swedish one-man band whose name escaped my mind is the only doommetal I listen to... any recommendations, or have I been lucky enough to get the crem de la crem of doom metal?
