@jamaicanmecrazyful I heard, somewhere, that it's because he likes to feel like he's on the very edge/limit of his capabilities when he plays with Battles. Something to do with pushing yourself and that bringing the best out. Bit cliched.

However, I suspect it's basically because it looks a bit cool and quirky, hence why it features on the Battles t-shirt I happen to be wearing.

@jamaicanmecrazyful It provides for a more minimalist sound...He's not as tempted to hit the cymbal as much as most bands would..."Race In" is really one of the only times he bashes the cymbal a good amount of times in a row...
