New Arts Collective is an organization of artists in San Luis Obispo who spent the summer of 2009 collaborating on public performance art and art installations in San Luis Obispo. The group was started by Ashley Schwellenbach, the Arts Editor at New Times, and their efforts were documented for an issue of the paper, released Sept. 24, 2009 (www.newtimesslo.com). For this particular event, choreographer Drew Silvaggio of Civic Ballet in SLO, had three works that he had not had the opportunity to perform. He recruited some of his dancers to meet in downtown San Luis Obispo and spend the day performing the pieces in public places--the gazebo in Mitchell Park, Uptown Espresso, the top level of the Marsh Street parking garage, the sidewalk by the 7/11, as well as Mission Plaza. The result was amazing. This is part two, of three videos.
