Hmm...hmm...
Mmm...mmm...

I remember, oh, yeah
The signs of springtime
There were birds, music everywhere
Everywhere

Some of us played, oh, yeah
And some of us cried
Can't you see, oh, can't you see
The tears in my eyes

And what I had dreamed of, oh...Lordy (What I had dreamed of)
I thought it was him
10 feet tall, oh...
I was ridin' so high
With eyes of a child, oh... (Eyes of a child)
Shinin' so bright, yes, they were

Coldest days of my life
They were the coldest days of my life
I had to run for cover, yeah, yeah, yeah (Had to run for cover, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
The cold-coldest days of my life
I thought there was no other, no, no (Thought there was no other, no, no, no, no)

Lord, take away (Take it) the pain (Take it)
Oh, you know, you know that it was (Take it, take it)
And it couldn't be (Take it) much worse
Down low, down low
Down below
Down below
It just couldn't be that bad
Ooh...down the low
It just couldn't be that bad
Ooh...down the low
Oh, down, down
Down the low
Here all alone, yeah
Ooh...down below
Ooh...down below
Ooh...down below
Ooh...down below

Ooh...ooh...

I remember, ooh, yeah, yeah
The signs of springtime
I'm trying to keep the past behind me
But voices suddenly remind me
That she's gone

She's what I had dreamed, oh... (What I had dreamed of)
She's all that I think of

Coldest days of my life
They were the coldest days of my life
I thought there was no other, no, no (Thought there was no other, no, no, no, no)
The cold-coldest days of my life

I had to run for cover, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Had to run for cover, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
The cold-coldest days of my life
I had to run for cover, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Had to run for cover, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

The coldest days of my life
I thought there was no other, no, no (Thought there was no other, no, no, no, no)
The cold-coldest days of my life
I thought there was no other, no, no (Thought there was no other, no, no, no, no)

The cold-coldest days of my life
I had to run for cover, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Had to run for cover, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Coldest days of my life
Coldest days of my life

  • @taijza15 100% in agreement with you. This has to rate among the very best of music writing. The talent this man had to come up with something like this is just amazing. We dont have talent in the music industry now do we to come up with something this good.shame.

  • @thatkoolkatal You are not alone I lost my dad 14yrs ago. I told my mother that I missed him asking him questions and he would answer me the best that he could. And with wisdom. She told me if he had a choice to come back he would not want to. I said I understand. This not our home. Time will heal you.

  • Thank you, Adagiosoulb4flesh!

  • @Oristiumpier Or you could go to the liner notes. My brother used to follow the song and corrected the words to the song from what he heard the musicians sing on the record. A great example of much of an album's word change was EWF's "Spirit". Bro wrote all over that liner correcting it.

  • all i can say is mama.my sweet mama.miss you is not enough to explain how i feel but i know that it hurts.it hurts.it hurts.send me a warm smile down from heaven every now and then the way you use to when i walked up onto your porch.

  • "Oh, you know you know, that it falls like rain". I hate how wrong lyrics are posted on the internet. It's amazing how some lyrics are so messed up. I had this song memorized when I was 7, correctly. I did it the old school way. Put your ear up to the speaker to make out the hard to understand parts. This is my favorite Chi-Lites song.

  • @taijza15 I believe Eugene to have been a great song writer as well as a great singer...powerful stuff isnt it

  • They don't make 'em like this no more. There are good songs today. However, they don't make songs LIKE THIS no more.

  • @thatkoolkatal Everything will be allright. I feel like thisAlmost everyday. Somehow, I find some strength to go on, knwing that I will be allright and also knowing that I wil help other, as well. Take care and hold that head up. You will see your father, again. And it doesn't matter what religion you have. There seems to be a general belief that death is not the end. And I feel that way.
