On thursday September 15th, at the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago, many spectators witnessed "Discontinued Speech", a performance by sound artist Lou Mallozzi, Executive Director of the Experimental Sound Studio and teacher at the Sound Department of the School of the Art Institute. The audience was introduced to sounds and words captured from numerous verbal and musical communications remodulated with experimentalism and originality. Mallozzi used a range of materials and instruments resulting in innovative sound effects, ranging from interesting non-sense to symbolism. His execution was intriguing. Mallozzi's performance brought to conclusion the "A Sense of Place" exhibition that the Italian Cultural Institute had been promoting since June 3rd.
