Does Your Child Need Special Help to Succeed in School? It May Be Time for the POWER of Educational Therapy

What is Educational Therapy? Educational therapy is a special, intensive educational service that goes beyond tutoring. Educational therapy changes lives because it addresses the causes of learning problems. The benefits of educational therapy are:

•Directly attacks the source of learning problems
•Builds learning abilities far into the future
•Fosters academic independence and self-reliance
•Develops subject matter competence
•Fosters development of study skills
•Subject matter and homework help are only part of the activities

  • Hi,

To me there are three core elements to educational therapy: remediating the causes of learning problems due to issues such as ADHD, visual processing, etc.; knowing how to teach skills and concepts using a student's strengths; and defeating learned helplessness--a belief by students who have a history of failure and difficulty that they are "stupid" and can't learn. You can find out more on my website.

  • Thank you, ma'am. I agree with you that expectations, low or high, mold children's mindsets and eventually their perception and ultimately their reality. I strongly believe in teaching children to believe what God says is true about them--that they are smart, capable, bright, precious, and of invaluable worth. I appreciate your reply. :D

  • Hello, there..briefly wondering...Educational therapy seems somewhat vague to me...two entirely different frameworks...education and psychology. How does one become an "educational therapist" with a concentration on students' reading problems? Isn't that simply a special needs educator with a specific focus on learning disabilities? I greatly appreciate your clarification, thank you. Very interesting.
