Which water filter do you use?

That would be the Katadyn Hiker Pro Backcountry Series. I personally prefer it over the MSR.

I had a yoke snap on me as I was carrying my boat from my truck to the put-in. After making camp the first day I fashioned a temporary yoke from a piece of deadwood. It worked great...but it sure was a pain carrying that boat the first day without a yoke. When things go wrong, you really learn things. That trip taught me that a multi-tool is invaluable.

Thanks for posting a video that shows things going wrong. Those minor hardships are always the most memorable moments, I find.

It's funny that you posted that comment. Originally I wasn't even going to bother posting any of that trip online. But I was persuaded into editing a video of the trip to show that not all trips are perfect. It was said to me that some people who view my videos may get frustrated with all my trips appearing to go perfect, but in reality that's not true at all. In fact I have another trip I went on that I MAY post up, again that didn't go as planned.

Thank you @camper905, I don't mind you mentioning who rented you the canoes, with over 700 canoes in our rental fleet, it's a full time job maintaining them. We try our best to replace parts as they age to insure they don't break while on a trip but this does happen sometimes on older canoes as they age. We try out best to resolve problems like this if they do arise. Eg the Opeongo Staff bringing a new, higher class canoe to you. But on new canoes it should happen, I want to find out why.

@camper905, I've sent you a message with my contact information. I would like to investigate exactly what happened here. Looks like our Lake Opeongo staff upgraded your second canoe to a new Featherweight Prospector 16. This shouldn't happen, let along on a new canoe. I'd also like to review what type of compensation was offered to you. Mainly I'd like to try my best to insure this doesn't happen for anyone else. Thank you for sharing your experience, I await your reply to my PM.

naw man.. maybe for a short over-nighter trip like yours.. but for a 16 day solo trip, a fire ban does not equate to more of an adventure..
