A huge part of Austins music scene in the 80s, Club Foot (which lived where the Frost Bank Tower now stands) helped break such seminal punk legends as The Skunks. Veteran musician/writer Jesse Sublett talks with Ume frontwoman Lauren Larson about Club Foots checkered past, shedding light on the history of this venerable Austin institution. http://www.delllounge.com

  • Too much! Saw REM and UB40 and Green on Red and Fleshtones and... here. Hate when it closed. Liberty Lunch was great but nothing compared to The Foot. Love Ume too. Just saw them here in Houston.

  • I played Club Foot with Sam & Dave in 1981. Sad to see that it's gone and been replaced by a bank. Oh well, enjoy it while you have it may be the way to look at things.

  • Above the second men's room urinal- in the grout- it said:

"The jealousy I hold for you shows me how much I hate loving you".

    Club Foot Rocked!

  • my first show i attended legally(most i was underage)....19 was legal age then...bow wow wow played on jan 28, 1983......i still have the ticket stub.....even got to sing a bit into the mic when annabella shoved it down in front of me and my friends.....fun fun!

  • Nice! The bar had a window behind it looking out at the loading dock area of the Greyhound bus station. You could walk past the bar, which was on the (call it) first floor and walk up a couple of steps to a small balcony around the area that was the cavernous hole that held the stage, and the more sunken dance floor. From that point looking down (almost straight down) on the people dancing, it looked like pistons moving up and down.

  • wow! I still have one of the monthly "dance passes" I used there!! Not sure how that survived. I spent several nights a week there seeing the Skunks, Dicks, Big Boys and all the road shows.....man I miss it

  • Frost bank looks like a bad set piece off a Batman movie... ugly as shit and not at all in keeping with Austin....

  • Thanks for posting this - one video on CLub Foot.... at least it's remembered. Great place, the Austin music scene would have not been with same w/o it! And Frost bank is unworthy to sit on that site - and frnakly doesn't fit in the Austin skyline at all.

  • Cool Jesse,,,,well put!!

  • This is rad. I like the idea of preserving and educating about the past but also bringing in the new voices. Best of both worlds. Ume rocks. I've got some live videos of them. Just use the search bar in my profile page.
