Hank Williams, Weary Blues From Waitin'

Weary blues from waitin'
Lord, I've been waitin' too long
These blues have got me cryin'
Oh, sweet mama, please come home.

The snow falls 'round my window
But it can't chill my heart
God knows it died the day you left
My dream world fell a part.

Weary blues from waitin'
Lord, I've been waitin' too long
These blues have got me cryin'
Oh, sweet mama, please come home.

Through tears I watch young lovers
As they go strollin' by
Oh, all the things that might have been
God forgive me if I cry.

Weary blues from waitin'
Lord, I've been waitin' too long
These blues have got me cryin'
Oh, sweet mama, please come home...

  • Anyone know were thats picture taken? love this song!

  • @aaaaahhhhhsssss It's from an outdoor concert he did in his hometown in Georgiana, Alabama.

  • By far Hank's most forlorn recording. Amazing that a demo recording would become one of the most treasured recordings in music.

  • @redneckpride4ever I had no idea it was a demo redneck. This recording isn't the actual demo, is it? Or was it recut?

  • @threehundredwords The demo was dubbed and commercialy released posthumously. Check liner notes in 40 greatest hits 2-disc set.

  • @redneckpride4ever Thanks for that. I have the set, will check into it.

  • they scrambled to put out everything .the luke the drifter song Ramblin man became a big hit. record sales in the old day were dependent on juke boxes. they had standing orders for all hank songs . thats why he recorded under luke the drifter his gospel songs are some of his best

  • LoVe this soo much!!! <3

  • that yodel :P beautiful

  • HOW CAN YOU NOT BE MOVED BY THIS?

  • Hank said "Drifter can ya make folks cry when you play and sing?

Have you paid your dues, can you moan the blues?

Can you bend them guitar strings?"

He said "Boy, can you make folks feel what you feel inside?

Cause if you're big star bound let me warn ya, its a long, hard ride"

    the ride ............. nuff said...

  • @yarekhunt The last guy I can recall that I thought of as true country when he first made it big was Randy Travis. Some would say that country died well before Randy Travis first got big back in the mid to late 80s. I recall an old timer saying country died back in the mid-late 50s in his view. He didn't even like guys like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Willie Nelson and George Jones! I think thats a bit extreme but I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinions.

  • @BradNC11175 hahahahahahahha!!!! I'm sure glad I'm not alone with the notion that country was killed off about 20 yrs ago by x-over poser country and rehashed southern rock........god bless Iris DeMent and the likes there of I say

  • My favourite lirycs ever

  • WOW
