A wind test comparison between the new Esky Big Lama 500, Art--Tech (Century) MD500 and the Twister Skylift. All flown in wind and only 2oC! Which is best in the wind?

  • which helicopter should i buy. art tech eagle eye or big lama. PLEASE HELP.

  • @maral430 I have sent you a message :)

  • Dear Mikeymarmalade, great video! Could you explain what kind of adjustments have been done after unsuccessful first flight of Big Lama? As far as I just got the same hely. It is very good for gym but when I tried it outdoor with very light wind, result was the same with your first attempt. The helicopter flies itself not under control.

  • @starbeta1 I did not make any adjustments to the helicopter, just the TX. I made the forward flight better so that I could turn into the wind and stop it blowing away.

The wind was right to left. When I moved right, it was slow, even with the adjustments because I was flying into the wind. When I turn with the wind, notice how quickly it accelerated. That is what you have to be aware of flying outside. There are times when there is no wind when you can fly how you like but those times are rare!

  • the title and the video hardly match... the lama was 1 out of 3 and it was the last one to be flown

  • @Exoskull969 I will try to explain the video in simple terms for you. The 'test' is a comparison of the Big Lama in wind and compared to other similar sized helicopters. To do that they have to be flown too. Get it?

  • they dont handle as well in the wind because they are co- axil. you probably know about this but i will say it anyway. you cant fight the wind becuase there is less forward thrust with co axils because there is twice the amount of stablness rotors meaning there is twice the amountof force trying to keep it level. with a less stable heli or just one with one axil you can go faster forwards and backwards because there is less force keeping it upright meaning you can go headfirst into the wind.

  • Interesting Test, Thanks for posting it. I was shopping between the Big Lama and the Art Tech and decided on the Big Lama because of the ease of up grading the landing skids to "SuperSkids" to better accommodate a camera. The Big Lama has performed pretty good in a light breeze, but it has gotten in trouble when caught in a gust, but over-all I'd give it a thumbs up!
