seven oceans into a mustard - exactly what Roja's newest and best-to-date creation "Tyaga Rahasyam" is about.

What differentiates Roja's theme this time is - she is reaching out - to you, me and to herself.

The inaugural at the Sivagami Pethatchi Auditorium was - putting it mildly - a fantastic success. ( never been to this place before - right out of a picture post card - surprising 'cause - it is right in the middle of the mylapore-eldams road juction (nightmare) )

It started out with what seemed to me like a unrelated 15 minute lecture+video about the Thiruvarur temple by S.Jayachandran.....but it ended up as a great foundation for the performance and established the firm connections to the dance itself.

The 2 hours were Riveting.

Roja talks about Liberation in Thyaga Rahasyam. She is reaching out.

She talks about the progress or evlolution of ones consciousness - ever moving higher and higher - breaking the barrier of limited consciousness and going to a higher state.

The Thyaga Rahasyam is about the Truth, hence timeless.

The performance is like a beautiful "Kolam" - One dot at a time.

As the dance progresess she takes us through the process of the BECOMING of "shiva-shakthi"


Roja has another hit it in hand.

This is just not another dance where one can drop in - talk about assorted stuff - NO. The whole performance is one meditation. If one can think about hopping in and out - No - dont do it - You WILL miss the point.
