@mymentor I also own that DVD XD It is a fantastic one. I love Mark Nicholas' commentary and wish he was involved with TMS. I do find your defiance of all forms of media alarming, however. There isn't an article in the world that says "he was out! The doubters are wrong!". His dismissal did save test cricket (probably).

I've got the (brilliant) DVD of that series. I've seen the match and the dismissal many times. It was out.
I've played the game all my life, and come from a family whose religion is cricket. I know the game, and its rules, very well. Kaspro was out. End of story.
He was also probably out lbw 50 runs earlier, which few people remember. Either way, it made for the more epic finish the way it ended.

@mymentor @mymentor From the times article: "No One Spared A Thought For Kasprowicz At The Time"... he wasn't actually out, televised replays showing that the right-hand glove which the ball struck, and was caught by wicketkeeper Geraint Jones, was not on the bat handle." Unfortunately there isn't any good footage of this on YouTube and all the vids make it look as you described but I assure you, it wasn't.

Mate, Kasprowicz took one hand off his bat after the ball had hit his glove - and besides, the glove the ball did hit remained on the bat. Either way, he was out, plain and simple.
The only way it could have been considered not out would be if he removed a hand from the bat and the ball hit that hand's glove and was caught. That's not what happened, and the correct decision was made.

@mymentor I didn't say we didn't deserve to win. We did. But we also didn't deserve to lose a series to the West Indies a few years ago when they beat us 1-0 by drawing two tests 9 and 8 wickets down with 150+ runs to attain. We were still very lucky to because Kasprowicz should NOT have been given out. His hand was not on the bat when the ball struck it which means it is no longer considered an extension of the bat and being caught off it is not out. Look it up.

Kasprowicz was out, and England deserved to win that test and that series. They played the better cricket for the longer periods.
Australia were lucky to draw the 3rd test.
-
@mymentor We only won in Birmingham 2005 because the umpire gave kasprowich out when he wasn't with 3 runs to spare. We were very lucky to win that series.

Haha utter filth and he got a wicket. Gravy.
Well, England did beat Aus fair and square in 05, mate. Beat 'em fair and square with pretty much a second XI in the Comm Bank series in 06/07 too.
As for blatant cheating - he's sucking a lolly to keep the saliva going. Mark Taylor was incessantly chewing on gum to achieve the same thing.
As for Bodyline, which country was it that brought us the underarm delivery?
Get a life, dude.

You've got that right. He was an under-appreciated player, and his absence post-2005 has been arguably the biggest factor in England's dip in fortunes - as well as the fab four not being fit and firing.
The impetus he gave England's innings in the 2005 Ashes was a huge part of England's success. He's arguably England's greatest ever ODI batsman too.
Always loved watching him play. Sad that we won't see him on the international stage again.
