The initial intention of the GLF was to promote to keep each other safe, watch each others' backs and what not. This of the GLF as the snot nosed younger-brother to S.O.P.H.I.E.; it picks fights and tends to be an asshole but wants nothing more than to help people out.

And on a side note, if we seem to fit the mold here then definitely check out S.O.P.H.I.E. Their approach isn't as head-strong as ours.

When most people become part of a scene its because they like the music and clothes and want to spend time with people of similar interests not because they want to seperate themselves from the rest of humanity. Also most members of scenes dont define themselves as such. Thats why most "goths" are not going to have time for stuff like the GLF. Im not a goth myself but i am part of a fairly allternative scene so to an extent im familier with the issues raised.

You do raise a valid point in that people in any given scene don't really consider themselves as such, i'm not 100% with you on why they wouldn't have time for the GLF. They don't follow the dress code of what's considered to be 'goth' to draw attention to themselves but rather the opposite. The reason Goths don't like the GLF is because it draws attention.

Sorry i can't better explain it...but that's a basic run down...

but i think you need to focus on keeping safe an individual rather than put in down to anti gothic hate crimes or whatever

Philly is notorious for having people who are very difficult to deal with. Not just goths, but people in general. But you would think with all the lashing out against goths, they might be a little more interested in helping.

Some people never learn.
