Did you know that, according to the FBI, America's number-one domestic terrorist threat today is... animal activist groups?! Oscar-winning filmmaker Curt Johnson's incredible indie documentary on America's war on animal activism, activist's wars on irresponsible industry, activist infighting and how the extreme actions of a small minority threaten to destroy the movement for everyone, is one of this year's most important films. As a result of its remarkably even-handed approach, YOUR MOMMY KILLS ANIMALS, which takes its title from the name of a pamphlet that PETA once distributed to children, has already proven to be a confrontational experience for people on either side of the debate. An arsenal of uncomfortable shades of grey are addressed and hypocrisies are explored in all corners.

L'un des films les plus importants de l'année nous vient du réalisateur Curt Johnson, déjà récipiendaire d'un Oscar. Voici donc YOUR MOMMY KILLS ANIMALS, un incroyable documentaire sur les activistes et la lutte contre l'activisme en Amérique. Indépendant et impartial quant à son sujet, Johnson nous dévoile toutes les facettes: les combats des activistes contre l'industrie irresponsable, les querelles internes entre groupes activistes, les mesures gouvernementales pour restreindre l'activisme... et ces gestes extrêmes d'une assez petite minorité, risquant néanmoins de détruire le mouvement pour tous les autres. Le titre a été emprunté à un tract jadis distribué aux enfants par la P.E.T.A. D'un côté comme de l'autre, ça fait jaser. Personne n'est tout blanc ou tout noir. Les deux côtés ont leurs torts, leurs hypocrisies; et c'est parce que ce film explore vraiment tous les recoins qu'il crée une telle polémique.
