I upgraded my itunes software to version 9.1.2 and from then on, I couldnt access the itunes store. After 3 days straight of web browsing, all I found was to 'uncheck' the proxy server box in internet options, and to 'allow' iTunes through the firewall program, which was already dont, on both occasions.
at this point, I realised the also my Mozilla Firefox browser wasn't working. After troubleshooting for both programs (although iTunes' help files wasn't installed so I had to re-install, countless times) I finally found a solution. I found 2 programs that could be potentially blocking the iTunes' store and mozilla Firefoxs' Access to the internet, So I attempted to remove this software.
The first was called 'No-IP' a program thats used to edit your connection settings in order to bypass websites ;] (this could have altered the iTunes settings using the old settings rather then the 'new' and the connection couldnt be found)
I uninstalled it and found another program.
A 'out of date Norton Internet Security' although the program was out of date, I couldn't access its settings or uninstall it without a program.
I went online to nortons internet page, and found a specific 'un-installer' for my version of Nortons' internet security.

Download the correct uninstaller for you and then run the uninstall program.
After Norton has been successfully uninstalled, Restart your computer and see if the iTunes store/Mozilla FireFox works for you.
You can then re-install Norton products.
THANKS MAN!!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!

I should point out to others:
This DOES WORK for iTunes 10.5.1.42 on Windows 7 32-bit.
It is NOT limited to only Symantec or Norton products! I myself had Malwarebytes, PC Tools Spyware Doctor, ZoneAlarm Free Firewall, and PeerGuardian, and even with all these services disabled, I still could not connect. Even enabling iTunes in each of these programs along with Bonjour and other services did not do the trick, but an uninstall did. Give it a try!

This isn't a virus, if you think it is then it's probably best you don't bother trying.
Hopefully I've helped some people
