A film about the construction of the Merivale Railway Bridge in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Until 1978 the Brisbane Suburban Rail Network was divided into two systems with Trains from Lota, Beenleigh and Corinda terminating at South Brisbane.

The Merivale Bridge was constructed between 1975 and 1978 linking South Brisbane with Roma Street. Allowing these trains to link with the Northside System.

This is part two of the film.

  • its good to know how the bridge was built but one thing...... at that time the workers safety was poor, some of the workers did not wear any safety hats.

  • Yes but back then people used common sense which seems to be lacking these days.

  • Did Joh really run that train across the bridge? It sounded like he liked notch 8!

  • Considering Queensland Locomotive Drivers drive on the right hand side I very much doubt Joh drove the train without assistance.

  • I really like this video, I stare at this Bridge from my office every day, and now i can see it being built, Thanks,

  • This bridge changed the Suburban system for the better especially on the Southside.
