TWINTOWNS EX PRO EUNAN DEVENNEY WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT!!

This is Eunie in his Eighth hour!!!

Nobody can accuse Eunan Devenney of not punching to break the world record of 36 hours on punch bag. The record was broken last year and Eunie as he is better known as in the Finn Valley of Donegal is out to up the ante.
The man from the Twins Towns Ballybofey in County Donegal today at 11 am began his attempt to break the world record for hitting a punchbag for the longest ever time in history.
Eunie, 42, will hit the 100Ib leather bag for a staggering 36 hours or more in a bid to raise funds for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Dublin.
Eunie, who has been with Twin Towns Boxing Club since his early teens; estimates that he will have to throw over 100,000 punches to defeat the old record which he held before until it was beaten.
He has been in intensive training since last June and is ready for the enormous challenge, especially when you consider most people could not last more than ten minutes digging into a bag the hard bag that takes no prisoners!!!
"I'm up early at 6am each morning and training hard. I haven't being doing as much work on the bag because that will come and of course he will have to protect his hands that will soon be painfully red with blisters and sweeling!!!
Eunie states
"I am getting the mind right now so I can take it from a mental " and follows up
"I'll be ready and I know I can do it," he said.
Eunie hopes to take the World Record and to raise much needed funds for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Dublin.
The Donegal man has already punched a bag for 24 hours a few years ago but is well aware of the toll the effort will take on his powerfully fit body.
"The time I punched the bag for 24 hours was pretty gruelling and took a lot out of me. In fact, I couldn't open my left hand fully for nearly a year after it," he says
But having had the experience of a relative getting excellent treatment at Our Lady's Hospital, Eunie admits his bravery is nothing compared to what so many sick children go through in life.
"Punching a bag for 36 hours is nothing when you take a walk through some of the wards at this hospital. "The fact that I am thankfully fit enough to try and do this is thanks enough," he said.
Many local people and community and sporting organisations are coming into see this unique event.
Everyone is welcome to call in and say hello to Eunan and give him any encouragement in his amazing fete.
If you cant make it to the Twintowns ABC Gym and wish to make a donation you can either give directly to Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Dublin on info@olchc.ie or Brian Anderson 0749130451.
Come on Eunie !!!!
