IHSAA 4A Boys Basketball Finals - Crazy ending

From 3.22.08 - from IHSAASports.org webcast / Brownsburg vs. Marion in Indiana High School Athletic Association 4A State Finals at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianpolis - largest class (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A) championship. Marion had won numerous state titles in boys basketball, Brownsburg none. Marion had taken a 39-38 lead on a three-pointerer with 2.1 seconds left. Announcers are Mark Jaynes (also heard on Indy Racing League Radio Network) and Pete Smith (HS Coach in Indiana).

He got the shot off on time when looking at the clock on top of the basket but according to the TV clock he did not get it off on time (but stadium clock is all that counts so count it). Also it seems like Championship games in Indy always have Gordon Hayward in the middle of them. In 2010 he was not as fortunate.

I was there! We all thought Brownsburg had lost, and some of my friends were going to leave, but we convinced them to stay. Once Gordon Hayward hit the shot we just started screaming and yelling. We had a Marion guy behind us, he thought they had won when the pass for Julian Mavunga was picked off. It was a party at school the next day. GO BULLDOGS! (Butler and Brownsburg)

At the game....First off...Scott Wood hit the 3 with 1.6 seconds left...the refs saw something the public didnt and decided there was 2.1 seconds left...before they inbounded the ball, they called timeout..so why did they get the ball on teh sidelines...next..the clock clearly didnt start when Jay Edwards grabbed the ball...it started about6/10 of a second too late...then once the ball pops out hayward throws up a prayer and it goes in...luckiest thing in the world..marion shoulda won
