Rupert Murdoch doesn't like 2-way communication media. He likes media that can only be consumed by the public. Radio, News Television, Newspapers, Magazines. The blogosphere, and the internet in general he hates because it's so much harder to contain and control the information you create or display. He can't stop people from clipping fox news shows, and commenting on them in YouTube, and that drives him nuts.

Google has embraced openness and near $0 for end users (eg, Linux on servers and Linux=Android,ChromeOS). Those, like Murdock, who refuse the implications of this are lining up with Microsoft to control every aspect of what you see, when, etc.
