    They're drug addicts. There's a moment when you look at another drug addict, realize that there's no way they're ever going to make it, and so he starts missing her before she's even gone.

    Wow, I never thought of it that way. I always just thought the narrator's girl was leaving for somewhere but with the title, that makes a hell of a lot of sense. Thanks for the awesome analyzing. This song is even more heartbreaking than I realized.

    I always saw it as the narrator realizing his relationship wont last or is ending and just sorta accepting the whole situation as his relationship dies. But i like your idea aswell
