- More than 100 million years ago, reptilian creatures slithered from the sea to inhabit the land but one species reversed the course and returned to the sea for food and survival. The Galapagos are home many strange creatures that evolved in isolation from other lands but none more so than the marine iguana. Despite its fearsome face, the iguana feeds peacefully on algae—when it can get away from the playful harassment of sea lions. Stoically it escapes the game and regains its rocky outcrop as Calypso sails past.
