Every war has these moments and it is useless to compare them since they are all sad and ultimately useless.

the colosal loss of life from the idiotic trench warfare, an entire generation was lost thru this and the swine flu which started in english army camps and swept around the world killing millions was all england's fault. they and the germans are the world's enemies. at least until they were finished

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing that he values more than his own personal safety; is a miserable creature who can only be made and kept free be the exertions of better men than himself.

you take fighting and war as synonyms.

You are right, sometimes war is necessary. War against tyranny domestic or foreign. However, isnt it ironic though that war is now fought to keep the cowards that you speak of in the living they have become accustomed to. The point of recent glorious wars is not liberation but just more enslavement. Cheap gas, fast food, and internet midget porn :-) Embrace it, you might have to die for it.

Americans are well known for sending those among us who are the most mature and having the greatest depth and the highest possible intellect to serve our country in the congress. thats why they will heed the call of prez obama to send in more troops to afghanistan
