According to BMI, Romania's economy will lag behind Europe's average during the next 5 years. Political turmoil, social unrest, sluggish to negative real GDP, high levels of corruption and tax evasion, negative balance of trade and a growing fiscal budget deficit are key issues. Prospects for foreign direct investments are low to negative, due to a bureaucratically hostile business environment and high FX and country risks. The quality of real estate is the worst in Europe (high price/quality).
