Cobra is the only way people have to keep their insurance coverage when they lose their jobs via lay-offs, or certain types of terminations. Unfortunately, the cost of Cobra is so expensive that most people don't opt-in for it. If the cost of COBRA could be reduced based on ability to pay, I think it might work; but unemployed people should at least pay something, even if it comes out of their unemployment checks.

you shouldn't be thrown out of the "pool" just because you don't have a job!

@niggerizationofusa22 I agree with you, but that's the way it is with COBRA system. I am a prime example of that where I've had to turn COBRA down every time I was laid off from jobs.

But bigger government control is not the answer to the health care of the people.

@niggerizationofusa22 My, my ... this is typical of a person who thinks the world owes them personal health and wealth.

Where in the Constitution does it say that the government is required to provide for the general welfare of the people?

The government always has a solution. They can take an arm or a leg. You can pick. If your poor and disabled You can file for SSDI but the government wants to do away with that. Get rid of SSDI give it to everyone and bankrupt the system. Old people will get no medical attention.

Unions and Big Business have already been utilizing Coalitions to bargain for healthcare, and both have powerful lobbies in DC. Why shouldn't We The People, believers in the American Dream, combine our forces to achieve the same or better? We can't stand on the sideline while others ruin our future.

Doesn't matter what we call it, only what we stand for. We stand for solving the healthcare crisis in the Free Market, not in the halls of government. We hope to have your active support!

Could you add a requirement that people to be granted use of this Health Plan be US Citizens, Legal immigrants and only visiting foreigners are to receive critical care to stabilize them and then return to their own country for continue care? I am sure many details would have to be included but it would help keep costs down.
