PART 2: A NEW KIND OF FRAME HITCH
In this video I explore the layout of a prototype frame hitch for my trailer system. It's pretty straightforward, but I wanted to make sure to cover the details of the linking method, redundancy factors, and a demo of how this thing will work once it's finally put into service.
Most common trailer systems mount either to the wheel axle or on one small section of the rear fork with the aid of a clamp. If you're hauling a 150-pound load, this might be dangerous because the long term shear stresses could break the hitch or warp the frame/hardware if subjected to sudden shock. This design spreads stresses out over a wider area and should be more stable, which will hopefully result in increased service life.
Thanks Man I've been using bed frames for years and now that I started to make my own bike trailer I came across your ingenious design. Thanks again, for not being selfish and sharing.
