Norwegian Lundehund , this breed was used by the vikings to hunt birds(called lundefugl),
its one of the rarest and most unique dog breeds.
My cat Pus(Pus just means 'cat') is a mix of housecat and some other breed(perhaps british short hair).

  • Beautiful dog. I almost bought a norwegian elkhound(elghund) a while back. How much does a purebred lundehund pup cost?

  • About 9000-10000kr, thats the avarage price for dogs in Norway(just some exotic once are more expensive).

    Its about 1300$.

  • katta så litt skremt ut der han satt i trappa... fin hund forresten...

  • Haha, nei ho var ikke skremt, ho er bare litt rar så hun ser ofte slik ut,pleier å ni-stirre på folk ofte. :)

  • that sounds interesting I've never see such a dog before. in norway I saw an "elkhund" and they look a little bit like my dog but smaler ( he was a mix of alaskan malamute and schäferhund) :)

  • The Norwegian elghund(meaning moose-dog) is one of the oldst dog breeds still alive :)

they have found skeletons of it which are 7000years old.

The third unique Norwegian breed is Buhund, im planning on getting one later. They are closely related to the Lundehund, but are bigger and watchdogs instead of hunting dogs.

  • Il est trop mignon ce lundehund, sa couleur est superbe, c'est un chien très rare !

  • Gorgeous dog! I love rare breeds and lundehunds have always held a special place in my heart. Not only are they so aesthetically appealing, but they have so many unusual and unique adaptations. Double dewclaws, super-flexible neck, the ear cartilage and range of motion in the shoulder... Such spectacular dogs! Perhaps one day I will have a lundehund of my own. BTW, I want to be a vet and one of my goals is to try to solve LS and make the breed healthier as a whole. ;)

  • such strange characteristics, but sooo cute!

  • @Vikingskog OH it's cute! It almost look like a mixture of wolf and fox...and it definitely sounds just like a young fox-puppy! Can you still use them for hunting?

  • Pus ser ut som et insekt, hoho! ^^
