Here's how to refill those throwaway salt & pepper grinders. The tops are pressed on permanently but my video shows how to defeat them. You'll be able to refill spices for a wonderful fresh taste. Kosher salt, for example, has a much brighter taste when ground fresh. You could experiment with many spices that come in their natural state (not ground yet). Enjoy!

  • FDA imposes grinders be made of polypropylyn which doesn't break up but foreign made grinders may be made of most anything. ABS plastic is used in better products.

  • I tried heating it and pullng it off but it was too dangerous. Let me know if you solve the puzzle. Thanks, Chef Remy C=:-)

  • a funnel made of paper would probably not plug as much.

  • Plastic grinders are the worst type of grinders I think. I had some sea salt with a built in grinder, I almost didn't notice, but tiny specks of plastic also came out with the salt.

  • Best video ever. I've just spent about 30 minutes trying to rip open a pepper pot without much success. I'm heading off to get my drill and wall insert right now. Thanks so much!

  • I think that there's a way to pry the top off, and pop it back on.

  • thank you man this is something i was looking for.
