Great film and great opening scene! Love that scene where Jim yells "What Do You Want?!" and when Ryder starts laughing, Jim is like "haha, i kinda overreacted there..." Great acting from both of them.

@DangerousDan2 Maybe so but after he realized he is the ONE then he pretty much stops trying to kill jim, he just fucks with him after that, because he had numerous chances to kill jim but didnt.
I think in a way he was trying to turn jim into a psyco to.

@skilo1983 He was gonna kill him at first, until he shoved him out of the car when he was a second away from getting that knife jammed in his eye, I think The Hitch Hiker realized he was "THE ONE" that could kill him and put him out of his misery which nobody els could seem to do. It was the Ultimate Good vs Evil. he says it in the car ride...08:00 The kid "What do you want" "The Hitch Hiker " I want you to stop me" The whole movie is based on him stopping The Hitch Hiker.

Rutger Hauer is the best psycho of all time with his performance in this. It's creepy, yet collected without being wacky and over the top like Ledger's Joker.
