  • Good examples of those 2 styles of shelters. Just to let you know: The snow mound style only needs walls about 8 inches to a foot thick. You can check your depth by poking something like sticks cut to length through the top and sides, then dig out the inside untill you start hitting the sticks. When you're done, you can either leave the sticks or push them out or pull them in... most people just leave them if they aren't going to be a poking hazard.

    Good stuff :)

  • Thanks. Yeah I just checked our forecast and another possible 7 inches! So maybe I can go outside and try to make another one! Lol! Take care,

  • Congrats on your success. I would def concur with the trench style shelter. Its much safer as well. All the points you brought in this vid are valid and concur 100%. Again Adam, GREAT JOB 5/5

  • what do u use to edit ur vids plz answer im starting a u tube channel u should check it out

  • Awesome video 5/5.

The second shelter you make is very similar to the one made by the British royal marines. some extra features that they add is a small ventilation hole at the top, and a "cold trench". Cold air is slightly heavier than warm air so it tends to sink. the trench allows that colder air to stay out of the main part of the shelter. it can also lead to a second, emergency exit.

But as always great video and thanks!

  • great video set as always i agree think the trench type shelter is safer and is alot easier and quicker to make keep it up can't wait for the next set

  • nice 1 :) wish we got that amount of snow here .. only got a couple of inches n it only lasted a couple of days .. was enough to make a snowman but thats about it lol .. some gd tips n great to see u learnin as u go .. i think i would feel a lot safer under the tarp than the snow as well :) cheers man
