L'intérêt de ce trombone en kit est essentiellement pédagogique car le son, lui, est pour le moins douteux.
En l'assemblant, les enfants manipulent les différent éléments d'un instrument de la famille des cuivres (tube, embouchure, pavillon) et comprennent le rôle de la coulisse :
Lorsque le tube s'allonge, le son descend.
