at 9:40 our power went out just south of 435, just west of Grandview Road... Maybe it was a tornado, and not a microburst that hit us.

No tornado watch or warning was out or issued. Therefore this is a great example that you should always be "aware" of incoming storms, whether or not the NWS issues out anything or not. -- Growing up a tornado hit and demolished an entire house just up the street where I grew up (near Topeka) and while I later heard that spotters had seen the tornado, the NWS in Topeka couldn't verify it on radar and no tornado warning was issued until just a few minutes after it had destroyed this house.
