This was a pheasant photographed on our farm in central Ohio. It was feeding from the bird feeders in different places.

It was not the normal OH pheasant, which has a russet colored chest and is colored quite differently. Its front was blue and the feathers on its back were white on blue-green. Its tail was very light, almost white.

What is it?

  • A melanistic pheasant sorry :)

  • A melanstic pheasant :)

  • your half right jummye669. its a cross between a melinistic mutant and a ring-neck pheasant. breeders have been on a "cross kick" the past few years and seem to be cross breeding everything.

  • Yes I agree with my friend pigproducer its a Melanistic pheasant. No theirs no color mutation or any of anything else.
