How to install and adjust rear derailleur-FULL guide

ok so there are loads of very thick ppl who are askin how to acutally install the rear mech. ummm....dirkerd....u jus use an allen key to attach it to the rear mech hanger. twats.

i have a shimano slx in the rear. it was not switching properly so tried to adjust it. made it better but now when i switch down from eight gear, it does nothing and then pushes over the 7th gear to sixth. help?

@Ahvgust check if ur mech hanger is straight. ... which aint an easy job if u aint got a proper tool :(

@skizzophrenic PS. this is not a great video to learn how to adjust your derailleur, this XTR model is RapidRise, and actuates totally backward from 99% of your derailleurs.

This actually is Shimano's tech-training video intended for mechanics to learn Shimano's new derailleur adjustment procedure (the exact steps seem to change subtly every year). Second note, as an actual bicycle mechanic, if you are getting hung up on physically installing a derailleur onto the frame, do yourself a favor and DON'T MESS WITH IT. Let someone who knows what they're doing fix it.
