Red Star Pilots Association
March Meet @ Flying W Airport
Lumberton, New Jersey
Friday March 20, 2009

IN THIS VIDEO, watch as a bunch of Nanchang CJ-6As, Yakovlev Yak-50s, and Yak-52s take off (and some break to land) from Flying W's Runway 1. The Red Star Pilots Association are holding a small gathering at Flying W to help "scrape off the rust" with formation flying in preparation for the warmer weather, airshow season, and upcoming fly-ins later on in the year, to include a larger formation flyover at EAA Oshkosh this summer.

I would like to thank Tim Stevens for arranging this flight and for Reade Genzlinger for taking me up in his gorgeous Yak-52 (the black Yak-52 in the video) for a earlier sortie, which you will see on here soon enough (the video is LONG!).

Like what you've seen? Well, if you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • cool!!

  • These guys/gals sure do love to pull their landing gear up the second it is possible.

The one plane looked like he started retracting the gear a half second before he was off the ground.
