Frank Yang - Free Association.

The objective is to "free associate" (write or draw whatever comes to mind, consciously and unconsciously) on my body with 18 permanent markers until they run out of ink. I want to express the way mind and thought reveal and manifest themselves and become actualized once they are embodied in the flesh. The history of a being is the concrete unfolding mind's quest for self-expression and self-understanding. Human beings participate in this process - indeed, we make it happen through pain, labor and suffer. This journey of the human spirit toward self-betterment reaches a closure once the outward projection of thought dialectically "finds itself", savors, recovers, and "reconcile with itself", and becomes at home in its other. This is expressed towards the end of the video where I attempt to "restore" and put thought back inside my brain and body as I write inside my mouth, nose, ears and other holes in my body. The account of thought can be attained to an attentive account of language. If language and its typography is the shape, form, and the architecture of thought, by transferring thought from the mind to the body, a comprehensive account of thought and of the ego can only be so attained and understood.

I don't see how anybody is calling this art or brilliant, the reality is... this was quite idiotic... Too much ink, if you wanted to make your statement, doing the same thing... maybe use something that isn't harmful to your body, eyes, mouth, ears, nose... everything really... So terrible
