That was in the summer of 2004 when Mr Gavrilov played a big tour with several Rachmaninov concertos around Europe. In Italy he played number 3 D minor.
After the concert in San Remo he came to Vicenza and found out that the conductor could not perform due to illness.
The organisers begged Andrei to play a recital,he replayed it is totally impossible because he was in a month long tour with different orchestras and only Rachmaninov concertos but after he saw how sad was the people he decided to play. He prepared the program 40 minutes before the concert and it was very hard indeed..

Superbe maitrise du piano mais trop d'effets musicaux, mais le gibet est trop "orné" et pas assez solitaire et sinistre. ...enfin c'est un avis de première ecoute
