EDIT - OK folks! I get it... There's no need for the rude and ranting PM's!

I'm playing WAAAAY too fast.
My hands are too stiff so doublings and grips are clunky or non-existant rather than crisp.
The small pipes didn't have a proper moisture trap on them so reeds are rapidly gumming up and losing tone.
Nothing is particularly well tuned in the first place.

If you wish to give some constructive criticism then go right ahead. Just keep it polite as others have done, hmmm?

This vid was a random muckaround during a random 5 minutes. NOT an attempt to be the best piper in the place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Old memories found on an old HDD.

A spare few minutes during a hectic day so had nothing better to do than take out the Parlour Pipes and do a little practice.

As you can see, my playing seems to be of a standard that makes people climb the walls!

Filmed 18/08/2005 during production of the "Knightmare RPG7" fanfilm Project @ Alstonefield Youth Hostel

  • Good Tune, 6/10 Nice Wee Pipes, 8/10 Bad Bad Bad Playing,,,,,,,,, 1/10

  • @PIPERJIM08 Thanks for the constructive criticism. Not the best marks I've ever been handed by a judge but not the worst either... ;-)

I'm well aware this isn't the best playing you'll ever hear. It was a random muckaround 6 and a half years ago that my GF of the time decided to film. I certainly wouldn't take playing of that standard to Cowal or suchlike!

Feel free to upload a video of yourself so I can get some pointers. I'm not a regular player but always happy to learn. :-)

  • slow the buggerey down!!!!

  • @bagpipesparky X-D hehehehe Aye, I know.

Old pipe major used to go on and on about me playing everything at 100mph. I'm nowhere near that quick these days. Probably all the better for it as well.

  • Where are you?

  • I always find myself listening to this when i'm in the mood for some pipes :) Love it :D

  • what tune is this

  • that was pro

  • I'm far from an expert but I've seen practice bags on Bannatyne's website. There's no drones at all. You could probably use your own blowpipe and chanter or pick up a cheaper plastic blowpipe and chanter just for that bag, especially if you are taking it backpacking. Don't want to destroy a nice wood set. But if you already have the pieces, it has to be cheaper than buying a full practice set.
