This presentation includes video clips shot with a Traveler HD 10X Digital Video Camera and digital photos taken with a Traveler Slimline X5 digital camera.

Saturday, 11 April, 2009:

Here's some more random video of the Red Light District, shot on the "morning after" a typical Friday night of fun and revelry. These scenes start out at what I consider to be the entrance to the Red Light District, on Warmoesstraat at Oudebrugsteeg and Lange Niezel.

Out on Warmoesstraat, just a few steps away from the Greenhouse Effect Bar & Hotel, you'll see the exterior of the world famous Baba coffeeshop at the corner of Oudebrugsteeg and Warmoesstraat. You'll also see various sex shops, bars and coffeeshops as the camera captures shots of morning cleaning crews on Warmoesstraat. Scenes from Oudebrugsteeg and Lange Niezel are also included.

From here I make my way deeper into the Red Light District over toward Oudezijds Achterburgwal, lingering awhile at Oudezijds Voorburgwal. Tourists enjoy the beautiful morning as they walk among the shops. Sceneic shots of the Liesdelsluis canal, bridges and Febo round out this brief look at the Red Light District.

  • Stay clear of Baba coffeeshop, crappy weed and crappier music, rip off.

  • It's a nice location but it definitely falls into the category of Tourist Trap. Thanks for your comment.

  • I remember the quiet mornings! So different from the noisy nights! hehe

Here's hoping they don't institute the "Dutch only" smoking option!

  • Please take a lot of pictures and video and post here. I want to see your experience. Thanks for viewing and for leaving comments. I appreciate it.

  • Yeah, it was across the way, and had a view over Damrak. I don't think they remodeled it because the room list is the same, just minus that one. Great place, cant wait!!!

  • I'm not sure, but I bet it was remodeled and renamed, It's probably still there, just under a different name. Was it over by the Hill Street Blues, across the street from the Bar and Hotel?

  • Yeah, it looked weird in the pics. As long as its en suite, im happy. Do you know what happened to the Canal View apartment??

  • That's a one person room. I have stayed in that room before. The bathroom is interesting, the toilet is behind the shower so that you have to pull a curtain to keep from getting it wet. Back in the day, that room was actuall part of the hallway and the bathroom was available for the dorm room, which was remodeled and became theFluro Room with its own toilet.

  • This time the "Red Light" room. The first time I had stood in "Canal View" apt, which they do not have anymore.

  • Which room did you reserve at the GHE? Thank you for viewing and for your comments.

  • Great vid to gear me up!! Making a return in 3 weeks. Staying at GHE for 2nd time. Best spot in town!!
