I recently discovered my passion for playing hornpipes so here is "The Harvest Home" followed by "The Boys of Bluehill". I have a lot of fun playing these tunes.

Now the usual excuses:
;)

We made two takes and although in the other I don't make all the mistakes that I make in this one, somehow I find this one a bit more enjoyable. Moreover I apologize for not making variations (to decrease repetitiveness), but I started playing these tunes only recently.

My brother doesn't know what guitar backing technique should be used for hornpipes so he made up some neat strumming, as you can see...

  • With Irish music, I think mistakes lead to better ways to perform and don't always sound like mistakes. No excuses required. You boys done good!

  • Toe tapping excellent. Notes available on "wandering whistler" for penny whistle.

  • perfect for steps

  • This is really excellent - I was looking for the Big Country song, but I love this. Makes me wonder what it would sound like with someone like the Pogues of the Dubliners belting out a song on top of it.

Thanks for posting - you've opened my eyes to this kind of music

  • i'm trying to discover my passion for the hornpipes - but I think my neighbors and bandmates might kill me before i get there
